The Brock baseball team swept the Ryerson Rams by scores of 4-0 and 11-0 on Sunday as the Badgers capitalized on an extra day of rest as their doubleheader with Laurentian in Sudbury was postponed.
Starting pitcher Alex Nolan delivered a complete game shutout as he struck out 13 batters in the first game.
He allowed just eight hits.
In Game 2, pitcher Chase Porter made his first start of the season. He recorded three strikeouts and allowed only a hit across three innings.
"Nolan and Porter are two of our most experienced pitchers and they performed like veterans," said Badgers pitching coach Fabio Del Rio. "No earned runs and only a handful of hits allowed. Nice day at the office."
In the sixth inning of the first content, shortstop Noah Koffman hit a leadoff double while first baseman Jacob Underwood walked and DH Josh Wray executed a sacrifice bunt. Koffman scored on an RBI groundout by outfielder Nathan Laird.
Underwood scored on an RBI double courtesy of outfielder Connor Humphrey, who in turn cashed in on a single by outfielder Dawson Veeneman.
In the second game, the Badgers delivered an offensive onslaught.
Brock scored six runs in the third to build an 8-0 lead.
Connor Humphrey belted a solo home run while Ben Tiw went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a pair of runs scored.
Veeneman registered a pair of doubles and two RBI, and Underwood notched an RBI double.
Lefty Jacob Ebbs and righty Matt Balkwill completed the game in relief of Porter.
"The guys seemed extra eager to hit the field today after getting washed out on Saturday versus Laurentian," said Del Rio. "They played with great enthusiasm, which led to two very clean, well-played games."
This weekend, the Badgers (6-2) host Western on Saturday, Sept. 29 at noon and 3:30 p.m. and Guelph on Sunday, Sept. 30 at noon and 3:30 p.m.
