Badgers improve to .500 with win over Warriors

Box Score

The Brock Women's Basketball team earned their fourth consecutive victory and improved to 7-7 as they defeated the Waterloo Warriors 63-47 on the road Saturday.

Miranda Smith was on fire from beyond the arc as she recorded five three-pointers en route to 19 points, three rebounds and two assists.

Melissa Tatti scored 11 points, grabbed eight rebounds, added six assists and a steal.

Brock and Waterloo started evenly matched.

With both teams trying to find their rhythm and a pace that would work out best, the first quarter favored neither side as the Warriors held a slim 19-17 lead.

Brock found their pace early which gave them the ability to start pulling away as the clock counted down.

The second quarter featured an impressive shooting performance from Smith, and displayed sharp rebounding skills of almost everyone who was on the court and the defence needed to hold Waterloo to a low efficiency. All this building to a 31-29 Brock lead going into the third quarter.

The second half is where the Badgers started to pull away. Waterloo couldn't find a way to penetrate Brock's defence and the shooting of the Badgers overpowered the Warriors.

Brock led 50-35 entering the fourth.

The Badgers rotated players for important minutes and earned themselves a victory and another boost to their momentum moving forward.

On Jan. 16 at 6 p.m., Brock travels to Guelph to take on the Gryphons (4-10) in the next game of their OUA season.
