Brock matched Guelph evenly in the first quarter, keeping the game within six points for the whole opener, and trailing the Gryphons 22-18 going into the second.
Guelph used their size and ability to get inside the paint often in the first half, overpowering the Badgers around the paint to get opportunities. This aggressive style of play was met with the Badgers mid-range shooting, which kept the game close and Guelph held a 35-31 lead heading into the second half.
Brock stormed out of the break and didn't take their foot off the pedal in the third. They outscored Guelph 30-11 in the third quarter and because of the defence that had been picking up and the ability to move the ball and find chances, Brock found themselves with a 15-point lead going into the final quarter, ahead 61-46.
The dominant play the Badgers showed in the third quarter, while it punched them out to a decent lead, proved to be unsustainable in the final quarter. The 30-11 differential in the quarter flipped sides in the fourth and Guelph answered back with an offensive run to give them the lead.
Brock (6-7) will look to bounce back just days later as they travel to Windsor to take on the 9-6 Lancers who sit one spot above the Badgers in the OUA West.
