Box Score The Brock women's basketball fell to the McMaster Marauders 74-57 on Wednesday night.
Baelie Campbell notched 23 points in 30 minutes along with seven rebounds, four assists and a steal in the Badgers efforts against the Marauders.
Pressing the Badgers full court on defence, the Marauders forced Brock to fight for a lot of their opportunities early and kept them just an inch behind.
Despite early scoring from their starters, Brock ended the first quarter trailing 12-11.
To fight against McMaster's pressing defence, Brock relied on their ball movement and post touches to facilitate much of their offence later in the game.
As the second quarter wrapped up, McMaster stayed on top and was leading 27-23.
McMasters scoring escalated in the third as Brock put in more of their rotation players. Finding more high percentage opportunities, the Marauders outscored the Badgers by 10 in the quarter which jumped their lead to 48-34.
Even though Brock found their rhythm in the fourth scoring 23 points, the Marauders answered every opportunity with a basket of their own and scored 26 points in the quarter. This high-scoring quarter for both sides jumped both of the scores up but meant McMaster held on to their lead going to the final buzzer.
Now one game ahead of Laurier in fourth in their division, the Badgers (9-10) will play an important rematch against the Windsor Lancers on Friday, Feb. 1 which will be an important momentum game going into the final stretch of the regular season.
