The Western Mustangs outlasted the Brock Badgers 80-75 in a back-and-forth tilt in London on Saturday.

Johneil Simpson recorded 18 points and eight rebounds to lead the Badgers in both categories, while Kascius Small-Martin posted 16 points and six rebounds.

Daniel Cayer scored 14 points and notched seven rebounds.

The first half went the way of the Mustangs as they punched out to an early 19-12 lead. The Badgers attempted to claw back in the second with their volume of scorers, but they found themselves down 39-26 heading into the second half.

Brock's offence ignited in the third by outscoring by nine points to trailed 58-54 heading into the final 10 minutes.

It came down to the buzzer in London between the Badgers and Mustangs.

A stunning late three-pointer from Western decided the game.

The Badgers travels to battle the Laurier Golden Hawks on Wednesday Jan. 9 in their second meeting of the season.
