Box Score The Brock men's basketball team won their first game of 2019 as they clipped the Golden Hawks 92-81 on the road Wednesday.
"Great game for university basketball fans. Both teams competed at a high level and the players made some great plays," said head coach Madhav Trivedi. "We were happy with our ability to sustain any run that they made, which was especially crucial today against a top 10 team in the country."
The Golden Hawks struggled to contain the fearsome trio of Johneil Simpson (26 points), Cassidy Ryan (24 points) and Daniel Cayer (20 points).
Simpson led the way with nine rebounds and Cayer secured seven.
Tyler Brown dished out nine points and assists, and collected six rebounds. Michael Vos Otin scored 13 points, four assists and five rebounds.
"Our guys were great and played extremely unselfish," added Trivedi. "Moved the ball, found open shooters and stuck together."
Brock led 46-41 at halftime.
Laurier outscored Brock 23-17 in the third, yet the Badgers came back with their highest scoring quarter, 29-17, in the fourth.
The Badgers (8-5) return to Waterloo to battle the Warriors (3-9) on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 8 p.m.
