The Brock Badgers clinched home-field advantage for the first round of the OUA men's soccer playoffs.
Brock will host Windsor on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at Brock Alumni Field at 8:15 p.m.
On Saturday, the Badgers scored three goals within 12 minutes to secure a 4-1 win over the visiting Waterloo Warriors at home.
"Our whole back line did well, because Waterloo is a very crafty team who have two great wingers," said head coach Lucio Ianiero. "Our fullbacks did well and out centre backs held their own. Teams in the OUA don't surrender. They just keep coming at you."
Brock striker Sebastian Agudo opened the scoring at the 18-minute mark, however the Warriors' Luka Frankovich tied it up just before halftime.
In the second, Jared Agyemang netted the eventual game-winning marker for his league-leading 13th goal. Jordan Smalling scored twice in seven minutes to seal the deal for Brock.
"Jared and Jordan slipped behind their defensive line twice to score, which showed great determination by our guys with tired legs," said Ianiero. "Our guys played in the right paths, and were in the right place."
Up next, the third-place Badgers (6-4-3) wrap up the regular season in Hamilton versus the McMaster Marauders (4-3-6) on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 3 p.m. Meanwhile, the Windsor Lancers will have to overcome the first-place York Lions in order to leapfrog McMaster in the standings.
