Box Score The Brock women's volleyball team opened the OUA season with a resounding 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-15) victory over the Windsor Lancers at Bob Davis Gymnasium on Friday.
The Badgers posted a punishing .484 kill percentage to finish off the Lancers in the third set.
"It was a great match," said head coach Steve Delaney. "We were down at times too, so we had to rally back, which is awesome to see."
The Badger rookies helped out as Samantha Casey earned Player of the Match honours. Casey added six kills, eight digs and a pair of service aces.
Senior outside Laura Condotta led the attack with 15 kills for a .325 kill percentage, and posted 10 digs. Darby Taylor secured eight kills, four blocks and 11 digs.
Christina Jovetic, a second year who moved from right side to the middle this season, hit a .857 kill percentage. Aleiah Torres posted 11 digs in her first OUA match alongside first-year Gigi Markotic who recorded two service aces and five kills.
"As a team we hit at a rate of over .200, which is great," added Delaney. "We won because we passed at a clip of 2.11 as a team. It was a good team win. We can be better though, because we were sloppy at times, I look for an improvement versus Western."
The Badgers (1-0) host the Western Mustangs (1-0) on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. The Mustangs opened the season with a 3-1 victory at McMaster on Friday.
Recruit Jenna Vandenbosch, seen here with head coach Steve Delaney, signed her letter of intent to play with the Brock women's volleyball team next season prior to their season opening match versus Windsor at Bob Davis Gymnasium on Friday. Vandenbosch, who plays left side, was named Jean Vanier Catholic's senior girls volleyball MVP last June and competes for the Niagara Rapids Volleyball Club.
