Badgers overcome No. 8 Rams, return home to host Blues

The Brock men's hockey team defeated the No. 8 Ryerson Rams by a score of 5-2 on the road in Toronto on Thursday.

"We played real smart and buried our opportunities again top to bottom," said head coach Marty Williamson. "A great 20-man effort."

The Badgers lost 2-1 to the Rams in their previous game on Nov. 23.

"Our mindset going into tonight was that we did a lot of good things last week against them," said captain Connor Walters. "We felt very good about our chances to win if we did that again for 60 minutes. We remained confident after last game, but this time we got the result we wanted."

Brock received goals from five different skaters as Walters got the ball rolling at 3:44 of the first period. Adam Berg and Tyler Rollo each added goals as the Badgers skated away with a 3-2 lead in opening frame.

Jared Marino and Cosimo Fontana each punched in goals to seal the deal for the Badgers. Frankie Pucci posted two first assists.

Goaltender Mario Cavaliere made 23 saves in between the posts for the win.

Brock outshot Ryerson 41-25.

Up next, the Badgers (10-6) wrap up the first half of the season when they host the No. 4 Toronto Varsity Blues (12-2) on Friday, Nov. 29 at 7:15 p.m. at Seymour-Hannah Arena.

Fans can gain free entry to the game as Brock is hosting their annual Community Care food drive. The Badgers are collecting non-perishable food items at their next home game at Seymour-Hannah Arena in St. Catharines. A donation will equal free admission.
