Box Score The Brock women's basketball team fell 90-53 to the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Friday evening in their first game of a back-to-back road trip.
Melissa Tatti scored 15 points in the Badgers efforts with her ability to shoot from range, to go along with three rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Kristin Gallant followed with eight points, six rebounds and three assists to add extra presence around the arc.
Brock did a good job of containing the paint in the first quarter. Shutting down a lot of Lakehead's easy opportunities inside, Brock kept up with their three-pointers and entered the second quarter tied 18-18.
Lakehead started to get their rhythm going from farther out in the second quarter. With Brock doing their best to shut down any inside look, Lakehead went to their shooters and found several opportunities. Due to their efficiency they jumped out to a 42-33 lead going into the third quarter.
In the third quarter Lakehead started to pressure Brock with a full-court press defense. This style of play the Badgers weren't totally used to disrupted the Badgers offense and caused turnovers which ended in transition baskets for Lakehead. The Thunderwolves kept their efficiency down the court and pressed everything the Badgers did, outscoring Brock 25-8 and leading 67-41 going into the fourth.
The pressure didn't stop in the fourth quarter. Now with a defensive style they liked, the Thunderwolves continued to push it on the Badgers and silence any last chance efforts. Brock got whatever they could but came up short in the end against the Thunderwolves.
With just one game left in the regular season, Brock (11-12) will look to bounce back against Lakehead on Saturday night and finish the season off at .500 before heading into their first-round playoff game.
