The Lakehead Thunderwolves women's basketball team defeated the Brock Badgers 98-65 on Saturday night to close off the regular season.

Melissa Tatti led all Badgers with 16 points and four rebounds to go along with two assists and a steal.

"Tough game, always hard to play at Lakehead," said Tatti. "We knew coming into the game that we have our playoff spot secured and that we are playing on Wednesday so playing to prep for that was most important for this weekend."

It was a shooting contest from very early on as Brock and Lakehead expanded their range.

Both teams shut down the paint and let the shooters shoot as Lakehead jumped out to a 20-13 lead.

The three-point shooting of Lakehead's Karissa Kajorinne pushed the Thunderwolves even farther ahead in the second quarter. As Brock struggled to close out effectively around the arch, Lakehead poured onto their lead and went into the third quarter ahead 49-31.

Lakehead continued to punish Brock from mid to long range in the second half despite Brock's efforts from around the hoop. Even with players able to get to the line or get a back door look around the paint, Lakehead kept their lead and the score was 71-46 going into the fourth.

Continuing their efforts from beyond the arch, Lakehead held off the Badgers close range opportunities and expanded their lead, eventually taking the victory over the Badgers.

Now finished with the regular season, Brock women's basketball team looks towards the playoffs where they will play their first-round matchup on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
