The Guelph Gryphons defeated the Brock Badgers 5-0 in the opening game of the OUA women's hockey playoffs in Guelph on Wednesday.

Claire Merrick scored two goals and goalie Valerie Lamenta made 17 saves for the shutout.
Guelph led 1-0 after the period on a power-play goal, but scored three goals in the second to pull away from Brock.
