The Brock baseball team defeated the Erie Community College Kats 11-3 and 10-7 during a doubleheader in Buffalo, New York on Saturday.
In the first game, the Badgers fired up the offence in the first inning when David Polson doubled on the first pitch of the at bat to score a run.
Pitcher Brandon Underhill got the start for Brock. He went four innings, allowing two runs on zero hits and striking out four.
Brock totaled 11 hits. Matt Casburn, Nate Laird, Tyler Giancos, and Polson each managed multiple hits. Polson, Giancos, Laird, and Casburn each managed two hits to lead the team.
In the second contest, Brock weathered a push by Erie in the fourth inning where the Badgers coughed up six runs, but held on for a 10-7 win on Saturday.
Bats blistered as Brock collected seven hits and ECC tallied five in the high-scoring contest.
Tyler Giancos grounded out into a double play, scoring one run, in the first inning.
Brock scored seven runs in the second inning. Nate Laird, Ashton Feijo, Ryan Bench, Matt Casburn and Alex Emerson each drove in runs during the frame.
Ben Tiw led things off on the pitcher's mound and surrendered one run on two hits over three innings, striking out four batters and walking one.
Bench led with two hits in two at bats.
Up next, the Badgers (3-0) travel to Syracuse, New York to play the Le Moyne Dolphins on Saturday, Sept. 7 at noon.
