The York Lions held off the visiting Brock Badgers 79-77 at Tait McKenzie Centre on Jan. 8.
Badgers forward Godsman Kwakwah hit a three-point jump shot to bring Brock within a point with two seconds remaining, however DeAndrae Pierre made a free throw to seal the deal for the Lions.
For Brock, Tyler Brown scored 24 points, collected 11 defensive rebounds and dished out six assists.
Kwakwah finished with a career-high 21 points and nine boards. Daniel Cayer netted 10 points and Kyle Cooper scored nine.
After falling behind in the first quarter, the Badgers rallied to carry a 35-33 lead into halftime as they outscored the Lions by 10 points in the second.
The Lions connected on 44.1 per cent (26-of-59) field goals while the Badgers operated at a 36.2 per cent (25-of-69) clip. Brock edged York in rebounds 41-40.
