The Guelph Gryphons held off a valiant comeback attempt by the Brock Badgers to win in Game 1 of the OUA men's hockey quarter-finals by a score of 3-2 in Guelph on Thursday.

The Gryphons scored three consecutive goals before Christian Girhiny put Brock on the board midway through the second.

In the third, Ayden MacDonald scored at 5:59, and later in the frame the Badgers yanked goalie Mario Culina in favour of the extra attacker but couldn't beat Guelph goalie Brendan Cregan.

Guelph outshot Brock 32-28.

Connor Browm, Skylar Pacheco and Ryan Burton each tallied an assist.
