Ahead of the OUA playoffs, No. 7 Brock women's volleyball closed out their regular season with a road loss to the No. 10 Western Mustangs.
A battle of the two best teams in the OUA West, the Badgers fell in five sets by a score of 3-2 (25-15, 25-23, 19-25, 19-25, 12-15).
The Badgers came out strong in the opening two sets to put the Mustangs on the brink of a loss. However, Western made a comeback with three consecutive set victories.Â
Brock was led by Laura Condotta and Gigi Markotic, who each recorded 14 kills. Markotic added 18 digs. Emily Armstrong contributed 34 assists and nine digs, while Sara Rohr chipped in 12 assists.Â
The Mustangs received 16 kills from Carly Kimmett and Melissa Langegger had 12 kills.Â
Badgers end the season with a 14-5 record, one win better than a season ago.Â
The Badgers still earned the number one seed in the OUA West despite back-to-back losses, and will host a quarter-final match on Feb. 29 at the Bob Davis Gymnasium with their opponent and game start time still to be announced.
