Game Recap: Men's Volleyball | | Stephen Leithwood

Badgers ground Gryphons to open 2021-22 OUA season

The Brock men's volleyball team grounded the Guelph Gryphons 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-21) to win their home opener at Bob Davis Gymnasium on Saturday, Nov. 6.

Senior outside hitter Logan House scored 20 kills and second-year setter Grant Reddon registered 35 assists. Both led the Badgers with six digs each.

"I was extremely happy with our performance overall tonight. Our guys came out well prepared from training this week and ran a great match," said head coach Matt Ragogna. "Grant ran one of the most efficient offences of his career, and the guys rallied around each other."

House finished with a .679 hitting percentage while Dean Globocki and Kylar Code each contributed seven kills.

The match was the first for the Brock men's volleyball team since they reached the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) quarter-finals in February of 2020.

"We are in a really good place right now. The guys understand what it takes to get to the next level, and we are putting ourselves in a position daily to be successful this year," Ragogna said. "We have a lot of young guys who are just getting their feet wet in the OUA, but also a balanced roster of depth with our senior players."

Next, the Badgers (1-0) host the Western Mustangs (1-0) at Bob Davis Gym on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 6 p.m.
