Game Recap: Women's Hockey | | Stephen Leithwood

Process over outcome for Brock women's hockey team

Process over outcome.

That's the mantra the Brock women's hockey team adopts as they head into the holiday break.

The Badgers dropped their last home game in the first half of the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) season. Brock lost 4-0 to the Windsor Lancers at Seymour-Hannah Arena on Saturday, Dec. 4.

Brock is currently in third place in the OUA West Division with a record of 5-3-2-1.

The Badgers enjoyed a strong start to the season by going 5-1 before hitting a three-game losing streak before the break.

"Everything in perspective. We can't base our first half on a game where we could not score against an excellent Windsor team. But, we are committed to the process over the outcome," said head coach Margot Page. "We're positive about the first half of our season, but the great part about it is that we still have a lot to learn and can be much better. The players know it and want it."

The goaltending duo of Aline Hironaka and Tiffany Hsu have allowed the fourth least amount of goals per game (1.32) and sport the fourth-best save percentage (.945) in the league. The Badgers' power-play unit is third overall with a .56 per cent success rate.

Forward Cassidy Maplethorpe leads the Badgers in scoring with five goals and seven points in seven games. Maplethorpe leads the OUA in power-play scoring with three points, and is sixth overall in league scoring.

The Badgers will play exhibition games versus Toronto (Jan. 8) and the Rams (Jan. 9) before returning to OUA action against Waterloo on Jan. 14, 2022.
