No. 4 Badgers grind to road win over Lions

TORONTO - Competing in their second straight road contest, the No. 4 nationally ranked Brock Badgers men's basketball team knocked off the York Lions 68-63 on Friday night in Toronto.

A tightly contested game from the tip, Brock benefited from 27 trips to the free throw line where they were able to shoot nearly 75 percent with 20 made free throws. The Badgers were also strong on the boards outrebounding the Lions 41-21, but York was able to keep the game close by shooting nearly 40 percent from behind the three point arc and holding Brock to a single-digit scoring second quarter.

Four of the five Brock starters reached double-digits in the road win led by second-year small forward Jordan Tchuente who finished the night with a double-double consisting of 12 points and 11 rebounds. Versatile fourth-year shooting guard Godsman Kwakwah added 11 for the Badgers, while Isaiah Bujdoso registered 10 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Fifth-year forward Jesse Barnes rounded out the double-digit nights with 10 points and seven rebounds.

York's Prince Kamunga led all scorers on the night with a game-high 25 points, including four made three-pointers.He added six rebounds, two assists, and one steal to his stat line.

The tough opponents continue for the Badgers as they conclude their fall schedule against two perennial powerhouses in Carleton and Ottawa, both at home in Bob Davis Gym. Action begins with the Ravens on Friday, Dec. 2 when the defending provincial champions and defending national champions faceoff with tip scheduled for 8 p.m. Brock then challenges the Gee-Gees on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 3 p.m. Tickets for both games can be purchased at brocku.universitytickets.com, while the games will also be streamed on OUA.TV.
