Men's volleyball knocks off undefeated Lancers

ST. CATHARINES - Challenging the Windsor Lancers for the second time in two days, the Brock Badgers men's volleyball team earned a four set win handing the visitors their first loss of the season on Saturday night at the Bob Davis Gym. Set scores in the win were 22-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-23.

After falling to the Lancers the night before, it looked as though the Badgers were in for a similar result after dropping a close first set. However, Brock found their defensive form producing a number of timely digs, while also benefiting from several Lancers service errors. The trio of Kylar Code, Sauli Lianga and Jacob Ferland all put together service runs through the next three sets buoying the Badgers to an exciting home court victory.

Code was sensational for the Badgers finishing with a team-high and career-high 22 points. The left-handed attack tallied 20 total kills, while adding two service aces and seven digs.

Meanwhile, third-year outside hitter Lianga also set a new career-high with 17 points from 15 kills, one service ace, and two block assists.

Also reaching double-digits, freshman Devin Cooney registered 15.5 kills from 15 kills and one block assist.

Rounding out the offensive attack, Ferland was most impressive at the service line scoring three service aces to go along with five kills, one solo block, and one block assist for 9.5 points.

Guiding the offence throughout the victory, third-year Brock setter Grant Reddon recorded a season-high 49 assists and a team-high 11 digs, while also scoring three kills, one ace, and one block assist,

Topping the Lancers, Zach Albert notched a game-high 22.5 points in the loss with 19 kills, two services aces, and three block assists.
