KAMLOOPS - With the announcement of major award winners at the 2022 U SPORTS Men's Soccer Championship presented by RBC, the Brock Badgers saw two players honoured for their 2022 season.
After being selected as an OUA first team all-star, second-year goalkeeper
Taylor Miskolczi was named a U SPORTS second team All-Canadian. Meanwhile, Brock Badgers first-year midfielder
Tiago Pereira was selected to the U SPORTS All-Rookie team.
A standout all season in net for the Badgers, Miskolczi played a pivotal role in the team's Top 3 defense leading the OUA with eight clean sheets this fall. In addition to the strong numbers within the conference, the Welland native also finished Top 10 in the country in numerous statistical categories finishing third in goals against average (0.45), tied for fourth in save percentage (.906), and tied for ninth in total goals conceded (5).
For rookie midfielder Pereira, the recognition comes following a season where he was able to show off his dynamic play in the middle of the pitch. The Woodbridge native contributed to the team's stellar defensive pressure with a never-ending motor to pressure opponents, while also serving as connective tissue between the Badgers defense and attack. He appeared in 10 matches during his rookie campaign, scoring two goals, including his first career OUA marker which came in a dominant 4-0 victory over Algoma.
