The Brock men's hockey team lost 5-3 to the Lakehead Thunderwolves at Fort William Gardens in Thunder Bay on Saturday, Feb. 19.

In the first period, the Thunderwolves struck first, but Brock responded shortly after.

Christophe Cote scored on a hard wrist shot from the slot to tie the game while also notching his first career Ontario University Athletics (OUA) goal. Cole Tymkin recorded the lone assist.

Lakehead scored with less than a second left in the period to take a one-goal lead into the second frame.

Brock struck back in the second period with a point shot from Johnny Schaefer, which found its way into the net. Justin Kyle and Frankie Pucci added the helpers. Lakehead responded with two of their own before Jacob Roach scored a short-handed tally with a nifty move on the goalie in tight.

The Badgers trailed 4-3, heading into the third.

Lakehead scored one goal in the third, and it was enough to put the game out of reach.

Goaltender Aidan Hughes made his OUA debut and kicked out 30 shots in the loss.

The Badgers are back in action on Thursday, Feb. 24, at Seymour-Hannah Arena as they host the York Lions. Puck drop is at 7:15 p.m. Pre-purchase your ticket on University Tickets.
