Brock men’s volleyball team set to host first playoff home game

The Brock men's volleyball team is set to open the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Forsyth Cup playoffs at home when they host the Western Mustangs in the quarter-finals at Bob Davis Gymnasium on Saturday, March 12 at 6 p.m.

Brock Badgers (7-3, second in OUA West) vs. Western Mustangs (4-5, third in OUA West)

St. Catharines; Saturday, March 12; 6 p.m.

Brock will host its first men's volleyball playoff home game since the program was reinstated in 2016.

This is the second straight season the Badgers have made the playoffs and are 3-1 since returning to the regular season's second half.

"It's an intriguing matchup for us. We have a lot of momentum heading into our first playoff home game," said head coach Matt Ragogna. "We got a good taste of what a home crowd can do last Sunday and can't wait to see the local support from Niagara for both volleyball games."

The Badgers are 5-1 in home games. The Mustangs are 1-4 on the road.

Brock is second in the conference in kills per set (11.31) and hitting percentage (.276) led by senior outside hitter Logan House averaging an OUA-high 4.31 kills per set.

The teams face off for the second time this season. Brock won the previous matchup 3-1 (24-26, 25-23, 25-21, 25-20) on Nov. 13, 2021. Historically, the Badgers are 5-7 versus the Mustangs, yet have won the last three meetings.

During the 2019-20 season, the Badgers defeated the Mustangs to earn a spot in the OUA playoffs.

"The playoffs are a piece of our team vision and what goals we wanted to check off along the way, and being in a home matchup is a good start," Ragogna added. "We had a lot of guys step up in numerous roles this year. Now, we're getting back a fully healthy squad in time for a deep playoff run."
