No. 3 Badgers begin playoff campaign versus Waterloo Saturday

The No. 3 Brock women's volleyball team looks to pick up where it left off in 2020: a trip to the U SPORTS Women's Volleyball Championships.

The Badgers begin their quest to return to nationals when they open the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Quigley Cup playoffs at Bob Davis Gymnasium versus the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday, March 12 at 4 p.m.

Brock Badgers (13-0, first in OUA West) vs. Waterloo Warriors (6-5, fourth in OUA West)

St. Catharines; Saturday, March 12; 4 p.m.

The Badgers are 2-0 versus the Warriors this season while dropping only one set in their road victory in Waterloo on Feb. 23.

The Warriors, who are 3-3 in away games, finished second in the OUA with 566 total kills and first in total attacks. Waterloo is third in points scored and total blocks.

"We're going to have to play well because Waterloo is a good team led by a strong outside hitter in Sarah Glynn," said head coach Steve Delaney. They rely on her a lot, but they have some other weapons as well. We'll have to stick to our game plan to beat them."

The Badgers are perfect at home this season with a record of 8-0 and will fire up its conference-leading offence with outside hitters Sadie Dick (3.36 kills per set), Madison Chimienti (3.10) and Emily Foest (2.60).

Setter Sara Rohr is second in the OUA with 10.26 assists per set.

Brock's defence is led by libero Aleiah Torres (4.16 digs per set) and middle Grace Pyatt (0.82 blocks per set).

The Badgers lead the league in kills (598), kills per set (13.91), assists (550), assists per set (12.79), points (762) and points per set (17.7).

The winner advances to the OUA semifinals on Wednesday, March 19.
