ST. CATHARINES - Welcoming the Waterloo Warriors to Alumni Field on Friday night, the Brock Badgers women's soccer team earned a dominant 3-0 win to lift their record to .500 early in the season.
The Badgers offence came out on a mission pressuring the Warriors non-stop through the opening 20 minutes of the contest. The pressure was eventually rewarded in the 14th minute when
Emily Cirone was able to score off a deflected cross out front of the Warriors net. Action slowed down through the remainder of the first half, though Badgers keeper
Emma Hendrie was tested by a long free kick attempt on goal by the Warriors, which she tipped to her crossbar before being cleared to maintain the shut out. Hendrie would earn the clean sheet with two total saves.
Following the break, Waterloo showed renewed vigour holding posession in the Badgers half in the opening minutes. However, Brock was quick to take back control of the game with strong passes from foot-to-foot leading to two more through ball opportunities that striker
Sabrina Bisante was able to take advantage of. Bisante first found the back of the net in the 66th minute securing an insurance marker, before adding the nail just 10 minutes later with her second goal of the match. Bisante now has 4 goals in as many games this season.
The Badgers will remain at home for their next match facing the Waterloo Warriors at Alumni Field on Friday, Sept. 16.Kick off is scheduled for 6 p.m. with the game to be streamed via
OUA.TV.
