THOROLD – The Brock Badgers men's hockey team defeated the No. 6 Windsor Lancers 7-4 on Saturday night at Canada Games Park to win both games this weekend.
Fourth-year forward
Adam Berg recorded a season-high five points, as the Badgers tied their season single-game high with seven goals. The five point night moved the fourth-year veteran into the Badgers career top 10 in scoring dating back to 2011, now sitting in a tie for ninth all-time at 62 points alongside Dan Tanel (2011-2016). Meanwhile, a four point night from Brock captain
Jared Marino placed him into sole possession of sixth in the program rankings at 67 career points, jumping ahead of Skylar Pacheco (2015-2019) in the record books.

Special teams were a vital part of the first period, as the Badgers faced adversity out of the gate when they were tasked with killing off a 5-on-3 powerplay early in the first period. Their penalty kill was successful and this momentum led to the Badgers scoring the first goal of the game when
Frankie Pucci recorded his fourth of the season. Windsor responded a few minutes later with a shorthanded goal, but Marino broke the tie with three and a half minutes remaining in the period scoring a powerplay marker to give the Badgers back the lead.
Johnny Schaefer's first goal of the campaign gave the Badgers a 3-1 lead early in the second period. However, the Lancers were once again able to respond making it a 3-2 margin. From this point Brock exploded for two more goals before the end of the second from as
Justin Brack scored a shorthanded goal and Berg added another to give the Badgers a 5-2 lead at the intermission.
Berg then scored his second of the game just over one minute into the third period. Pucci also tallied his second of the game with an empty-net goal to ice the game late and secure the home ice win for the Badgers.
Badgers starting goalie
Mario Peccia stopped 16 shots in the win, while Nathan Torchia stopped 20 for the Lancers before before Dakota Lund-Cornish entered in relief for the starter to tally four saves of his own.
Berg's five total points, along with four points for Pucci and Marino marked single-game career-highs.
