TORONTO - Competing in Toronto this past weekend, the Brock Badgers women's and men's swimming teams achieved four podium results and 18 total top ten finishes.
For the men, top results were achieved by
Julien Legault and
Anthonie Korstanje. A backstroke specialist, Legault finished third in the 100m event posting a time of 59:90, while adding a sixth place and ninth place result in the 50m and 200m categories. Meanwhile, Korstanje claimed the third step in both the 100m and 200m breaststroke races finishing with times of 1:04.77 and 2:25.06, while also placing sixth in the 50m event.
Also achieving top ten results for the Badgers:
Hughie Edwards sixth in the 200m backstroke,
Tomas Galvez 10th in the 200m butterfly,
Anthony Gunn sixth in the 100m butterfly and eighth in the 50m butterfly,
Evan Karlov and
Landon Daschuk sixth and seventh in 200m freestyle, and
Ian Johnson and
Luke Pettypiece ninth and 10th in the 200m breaststroke.
Meanwhile for the women, second-year swimmer
Meghan Vaszko finished second overall in the women's 200m breaststroke event posting a time of 2:44.33, while also placing 10th in the 100m race with a time of 1:17.42.
The Brock women saw two more top ten results as
Megan O'Connell raced to eighth place in the 200m butterfly and
Paige Moore placed ninth in the 200m breaststroke event.
Returning home to the Eleanor Misener Aquatic Centre, the Badgers will host OUA competitors for the Brock Winter Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 28 as final preparations for the OUA Championships and U SPORTS Championships later in February.
