Brock women's soccer season ends in OUA playoffs

The Brock women's soccer team were eliminated from the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) playoffs.

After a season of highs and lows, the team's postseason journey has come to an end following a 4-1 loss to the Gryphons in Guelph on Wednesday, Oct. 25.

Third-year centre back Grace Tawil netted Brock's lone goal. Brianna Bishop, a third-year midfielder, registered an assist.

Guelph took an early lead just six minutes into the match with a goal by Olivia Rizakos. Rizakos found the back of the net again after Olivia Brown recorded a goal.

The first half ended with a glimmer of hope for Brock when Tawil found the back of the net as Bishop earned an assist just before the halftime whistle.

In the second half, Guelph maintained control, pressuring Brock's defence. Despite their efforts, no more goals were scored until the 90th minute when Tessa Ladhani added another for Guelph.

Brock showed resilience and determination, but Guelph's defence remained solid.

The Badgers and Gryphons each received five corner kicks.

The game was marked by a yellow card issued to Brock's team shortly before the halftime break, underlining the intensity of the contest.
