THOROLD – The Brock Badgers men's hockey team suffered a 3-1 loss to the Toronto Varsity Blues at Canada Games Park on Saturday night.
The Badgers concluded their 2022-23 OUA regular season with the loss to the Varsity Blues after surrendering three late third period goals. This was the Badgers third straight loss as they now look ahead to the OUA playoffs, having already secured third place in the OUA West division and a home playoff series in the first round.
The first and second periods on Saturday night were scoreless back-and-forth frames, in large part to Brock goaltender
Mario Peccia stopping 14 shots, and the Badgers killing off three penalties in the first forty minutes.
Brock then opened the scoring in the third period after strong forechecking forced a turnover in the Toronto zone and
Jake Cella found the loose puck in the slot to snipe a wrist shot into the back of the net. The goal was the first OUA marker for the first-year defence.
With less than ten minutes remaining in the period, Toronto scored two quick goals in under three minutes to take their first lead of the game. The Varsity Blues added an empty netter with seconds remaining to close out the game.

Mario Peccia stopped 15 total shots in the game, while his counterpart Rayce Ramsay saved 32 for Toronto.
