THOROLD – In the final regular season contest of their 2022-23 campaign, the Brock Badgers women's hockey team fell 1-0 to the visiting York Lions on Saturday night at Canada Games Park.
Following a thrilling result the night prior in London which clinched a postseason berth for the Badgers, Brock tried to keep the momentum rolling but were unable to solve York goaltender Serena Vilde.
The Badgers came out with a gameplan of peppering the opposing net, outshooting the Lions 16-7 through the first 40 minutes. The second period in particular provided Brock with opportunity as they were afforded two powerplay chances throughout the frame. As well, second-year forward
Madison Cronkwright showcased a near goal on a low shot from the slot, and first-year defence
Malika McDonald almost banged home a Lions turnover in front of their own net, but the puck would just not find mesh.
Returning to the ice for the final period, York finally ended the stalemate as Jennifer Shaw notched the game-winner three minutes into the third. From there, Brock once again ramped up the pressure, but Vilde would finish the night turning aside all 25 Badgers shots in the shutout effort.
Brock goaltender
Keelee Hollowell registered 11 save on the night.
Prior to puck drop, the Badgers honoured their 2022-23 graduating seniors including

Hannah Ryan,
