WINDSOR - The Brock men's hockey team fell out of the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) playoffs on Saturday, Feb. 25.
The Badgers lost 6-4 to the Windsor Lancers in Game 2 of the best-of-three OUA quarter-finals at Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex.
Matthew Barnes,
Christian DeDonato,
Jared Marino and
Cole Tymkin each scored for Brock. Goaltender
Roman Basran faced 31 shots.
Brock reached as high as No. 5 in the national rankings during the 2022-23 season. The Badgers finished third in the OUA West Division with a record of 17-9-0-1 and overcame the Laurier Golden Hawks in the first round of the post-season.
On Saturday, the second period featured a flurry of goals. Windsor held a 2-0 lead early in the frame before Barnes found the back of the net on a pass from fellow defender
Cole Thiessen.
The Lancers' potted two more markers for a 4-2 lead. DeDonato fired in a goal with less than five minutes remaining.
Marino opened the third with a power-play goal, however the Lancers struck again with back-to-back goals. Tymkin's goal came at the 18:11 mark.
Thiessen and
Justin Brack each tallied two assists, and
Tyler Rollo chipped in a helper.
Windsor left winger Anthony Stefano scored a goal and registered three assists.
