Brock women’s basketball campaign comes to an end

KINGSTON - The Brock Badgers lost 71-66 to the No. 2 Queen's Gaels in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) women's basketball quarterfinals in Kingston on Saturday, Feb. 25.
 
On Wednesday, Feb. 22, the Badgers upset the Windsor Lancers 61-58 in the first round of the postseason to advance to the quarterfinal showdown in Kingston.
 
Brock's Madalyn Weinert led all players in scoring with 20 points in 35 minutes of action. The second-year guard added five rebounds, five assists and three steals.
 
The Badgers led 34-32 at halftime and ultimately outshot the Gaels 44.6 (25-56) to 34.8 (24-69), yet Queen's outrebounded Brock 36-27. Brock's defence limited Queen's high-powered offence to just a pair of three-pointers on 24 attempts.
 
Brock would lead by as many as 11 points in the first.
 
Theresa Brown finished with 12 points and five rebounds, including four three-pointers. Noor Bazzi, Madison Macinnis and Allison Addy each contributed six points. Chloe Peters added five.
 
For Queen's, Julia Chadwick led the Gaels with 15 points and 16 boards.
