Brock never looks back in road win at Western

LONDON – The Brock Badgers women's hockey team defeated the Western Mustangs 3-1 on Friday night in London to start their weekend with a win.
 
Brock scored the first three goals of the game and never looked back as they picked up their ninth win of the season, jumping ahead of the Mustangs for fourth place in the OUA West division.
 
The Badgers had a dominant first period, outshooting the Mustangs 12-2, of which one shot was Mishayla Christensen scoring her third goal of the season from a snipe off the rush, giving the Badgers a 1-0 lead.
 
Brock scored two more quick goals early in the second period as Madison Cronkwright deflected a net-front pass from Paige Cohoon, whch was followed by Catriona Cormier's third goal of the season coming off of a rebound in front of the net a minute later. Western responded late in the period, but the Badgers lead would hold for the remainder of the game.
   
Brock starting goalie Kenzie Harmison turned aside 21 shots for her fifth win of the season, while Kaitlyn Booth stopped 23 for Western.
 
The Badgers are back in action tomorrow when they host the Laurier Golden Hawks. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Canada Games Park. Tickets can be purchased online at University Tickets and the game can be streamed online via OUA.TV.
