The Brock women's hockey team played their second exhibition match of the season on Thursday, Sept. 21.

The Badgers narrowly lost 4-3 to the Laurier Golden Hawks at SunLife Arena in Waterloo.

First-year forward
Rayna Franklin scored a goal and an assist. Second-year defenders
Allison Moore and
Marin Green also found the back of the net.

Hannah Ryan and
Tyra Edl each contributed an assist.

Brock's first-year netminder
Ava Cruikshank faced 22 shots in the loss. The Badgers fired 39 shots at Laurier's Kayla Renaud.

Laurier's Eryn Wolfe opened the scoring at 13:34. However, Brock quickly responded, and at 15:16, Franklin scored an equalizer.

Both teams enjoyed their chances on the power play, but neither could capitalize.

Kylie Laliberte of Laurier scored late in the second to give the Golden Hawks the lead.

In the third, Laurier extended their lead as Grace Sumi scored at 3:38 and Ella Jackson added to Laurier's lead with a power-play goal at 16:18 for a two-goal cushion.

Green fired in a goal at 16:32 on a pass by Ryan, narrowing the gap to 4-2. The Brock team pushed hard and capitalized on a power-play opportunity, with Moore scoring at 17:11 to make it 4-3. Despite their efforts, Laurier held on to their lead.
