The Brock Badgers' track and field teams made their way to the University of Toronto on Saturday, Jan. 20 to compete at the Fred Foot Classic.
Keshawn Igbinosun continued to impress, as he took the top result in the men's track events. The Teacher Education major ran away with second place in the 600-metre run with a time of one minute, 22 seconds and 23 milliseconds. He was accompanied by his teammate Gabriel Hedrick, who placed tenth in 1:28.27.
In the 1000m run, Marco Di Felice produced a strong time of 2:32.97, earning fourth place overall. Not far behind were fellow Badgers Garrett Wager (2:34.16) and Riley Coles (2:36.91).
Noah Nadon progressed to the finals in the 60m hurdles, where he earned a top three finish in a time of 9.84.
Brock continued to shine in the field events, where Michael Ivanov launched to second place in the men's high jump event (1.90m). Thorold native Andrew Armstrong also came away with a silver in shot put, with a distance of 12.11m.
On the women's side, Madelyn Huston's performance in the 600m run put her on the podium in third place. The graduate student's time of 1:37.70 was enough to outrun several of her opponents in a tight race. Lauren Macsai also showed notable results in the distance events, finishing twelfth in the 1000m in 3:11.30.
The Badger's carried on with impressive performances in the throws and jumps, as Brielle Greenslade placed fourth in shot put (10.56m) and Sajini Ganeshamurthi finished sixth in long jump (4.94m).
Up next, the track and field teams will return to Toronto to spend a full weekend competing on Friday, Feb. 2 and Saturday, Feb. 3 at the York Open.
