The Brock Badgers men's basketball team had their second game in a row against the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Saturday, Jan. 27 in which they came up just short, losing 72-70.
Junior forward
Jordan Tchuente led the way for Brock, putting together a strong game with 12 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Jevon Brown and
Andrew McKenna both contributed 11 points in the comeback effort.
Brock came out red hot from beyond the arc as they went 5-for-7 on three-pointers in the opening frame.
Thierry Tshibola and Brown both hit two and McKenna hit one to get the Badgers out to a 29-22 lead after one quarter of play.
In the second quarter, it was Lakehead's turn to heat up from deep as the Thunderwolves quickly erased the Badgers' lead. Tchuente went to work on the inside in the quarter, scoring three baskets in the paint to halt Lakehead's momentum and keep Brock right in it. At halftime, Lakehead led 41-38.
Brock got their offence going again in the third quarter but could not regain the lead as Lakehead's shooting was elite on the night.
Kevaughn Ellis hit a three-pointer and Davanté Hackett came off the bench scoring multiple times at the rim to keep the game close. Heading into the third quarter, Lakehead led 62-57.
The Badgers clamped down hard defensively in the fourth quarter, forcing multiple turnovers to give themselves a shot at coming back. Freshman guards
Jordan Nelson and McKenna both hit big three-pointers to bring Brock within a point of the lead in the final minute. However, Brock came up empty in their final possessions, and the comeback effort fell short.
Next up, the Badgers (7-10) return home to take on the Windsor Lancers (3-13) on Friday, Feb. 2, with tip-off scheduled for 8 p.m. at Bob Davis Gymnasium. You can purchase your tickets at
