The No. 9 nationally ranked Brock Badgers men's hockey team travelled to Windsor on Saturday, Jan. 27 and fell 4-1 to the Windsor Lancers.
First-year goaltender Connor Ungar remained a bright spot for the Badgers, making 38 saves in the losing effort. Second-year centre Ethan Sims scored his ninth goal of the season while Jared Marino and Tyler Burnie both recorded their 16th assists of the campaign.
Windsor was on the front foot from the puck drop, outshooting the Badgers 20-6 in the first period. Despite the gap in shots, the game remained scoreless.
The second period saw much of the same until the Lancers were able to break the deadlock late in the frame. This opened the floodgates for Windsor, as they added two more quick goals on the power play to take a commanding 3-0 lead heading into the second intermission.
Facing adversity, the Badgers fought hard coming into the third, creating multiple chances. The Lancers took the wind out of the Badgers' sails, adding a shorthanded goal at the 10:36 mark. Sims found the back of the net late in the frame, sniping it past Windsor's Nathan Torchia, but it proved to be not enough.
Up next, the No. 9 Badgers (19-6-0) travel to North Bay on Friday, Feb. 2 to take on the Nippising Lakers (10-10-5). You can catch the game live on OUA.tv.
