For the second consecutive season, a Brock women's rugby player has been named one of Canada's best.
Fourth-year scrum half Abbie Wade was recognized as a U SPORTS Second Team All-Canadian during the awards ceremony that took place at the U SPORTS Women's Rugby Championship at the University of Prince Edward Island on Thursday, Oct. 31.
"We are very happy that Abbie got the recognition of her achievements over this season and her growth over the last four seasons with the Badgers," said Head Coach Adrian Brown. "Her work ethic and impact on the field is consistent and she has been the definition of a leader each time she dawns the Badgers jersey."
The product of Burlington scored three tries on the year and was named captain of the Badgers for every contest during the season while being selected as Player of the Match twice.
Wade was named an Ontario University Athletics (OUA) First Team All-Star last week on Wednesday, Oct. 23. She was also selected as an OUA Second Team All-Star in 2023.
"With her passing, kicking and voice on the field, Abbie has demonstrated that she is at a national standard at scrum half in every game this season and she is incredibly deserving of this award," Brown added.
The Brock women's rugby program has much to be proud of as last season Paige DeNeve was also selected as a U SPORTS Second Team All-Canadian, showcasing the type of impact the Badgers are making on the national stage.
