Late heroics cut short as the Badgers fall to the Gee-Gees

Brock kept the game close but ultimately lost to Ottawa. 

The Brock Badgers women's hockey team fell short against the Ottawa Gee-Gees by a score of 3-2 in the Friday, Nov. 15 matchup at Canada Games Park. 

Madison Cronkwright scored her fifth goal of the season and Sydney Hood notched her fourth of the season in the contest.

Hood opened the scoring, but Ottawa struck back with two goals of their own in quick succession in the first period.  

Ottawa would later add to its lead with a goal in the second period. 

Last week's Brock University Athlete of the Week, Cronkwright, found the back of the net with less than 60 seconds remaining, but Ottawa ultimately kept its lead to close out the game. 

The Badgers outshot the Gee-Gees by a total of 28 to 21. 

Second-year goalie Ava Cruikshank stopped 18 of 21 shots faced. 

Next up, the Brock Badgers women's hockey team host the No. 7 Nipissing Lakers on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Canada Games Park at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at, https://brocku.universitytickets.com/ and the action is streamed on OUA.tv. The last time these teams met, the Badgers lost by a score of 2-1 on Jan. 27, 2024.
