The Brock Badgers men's basketball team went on the road on Saturday, Feb. 10 where they were able to pickup a huge 81-66 victory over the McMaster Marauders in Hamilton.
This win keeps the Badgers' hopes at the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) playoffs alive with just one game remaining in the regular season. The Badgers will need to win their final game and hope for some favourable results in other contests from around the province to secure a postseason birth.
Senior guard
Isaiah Bujdoso had his best game of the season for Brock, totalling 23 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals. Senior forward
Jordan Tchuente also had a strong contribution with 15 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals.
The Badgers got off to a great start scoring the first seven points of the game through a
Jevon Brown three-pointer and two buckets inside from Tchuente. Brock held a steady lead for the rest of the quarter thanks to Tchuente,
Andrew McKenna and
Michael Matas scoring inside and getting to the free-throw line. Bujdoso had two three-pointers in the opening frame and hit one in the final minute to give the Badgers a 23-15 lead heading into the second.
Brock quickly stretched their lead in the second as Davanté Hackett hit back-to-back three-pointers to open the quarter, which was followed by
Xavier Fearon hitting a three of his own to put the Badgers on a 9-0 run. The Badgers kept hitting threes and were able to hold a lead of 10 or more for the rest of the quarter. They shot 57.1% from beyond the arc in the first half to account for more than half of their points and led 46-31 at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Badgers were comfortable as McMaster couldn't get the Brock lead below 13 points throughout the frame. Tchuente, Bujdoso and Brown all scored multiple times inside the paint and Hackett closed out the quarter with a big breakaway dunk to send the Badgers to the fourth quarter leading 63-50.
McMaster never got a comeback going in the fourth quarter as Brock extended their lead back to 15 on their way to securing an important road victory.
Next up, the Badgers (10-11) return home for their final game of the season to take on the Nipissing Lakers (4-16) on Saturday, Feb. 17, with tip-off scheduled for 8 p.m. at Bob Davis Gymnasium. You can purchase your tickets at
