U SPORTS Top 10: Brock women's rugby team moves up national rankings to No. 8

For the second consecutive week, the Brock Badgers women's rugby team have made the national rankings after their Ontario University Athletics (OUA) quarterfinal victory over the Western Mustangs.

The Badgers upset the Western Mustangs 38-12 in overtime during their OUA quarterfinal matchup on Saturday, Oct. 11 in London, Ont. 

Paige DeNeve led all scorers with 13 points from one try and four conversions, while Mia Vandenhoek scored a late try to tie the game 12-12 and send it to overtime. Other Badgers who found the try zone include Taylor Bulgin, Taylor Pate, Brooke Rempel and Mya Rickerby.

The Badgers entered overtime and never looked back, scoring 26 unanswered points in that frame.

After Saturday's win, the No. 6 seed Brock Badgers are now set to face off against the No. 2 seed Guelph Gryphons in an OUA semifinal matchup on Friday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. in Guelph, Ont.
