Brock Niagara Aquatics launches new triathlon training program

Triathlon competitors have a new place to train, and it's right on campus at Brock University.

This dynamic new program is designed for athletes looking to train across all three disciplines of triathlon with expert guidance and structured support and is led by coach Claire Haines.

"Triathlon has played a huge role in my life for over the past decade, so I'm thrilled to bring this program to life," Haines said. "The beautiful Niagara region is an incredible location for triathlon training."

Haines has been immersed in the triathlon world since 2014. As an athlete, she has competed across all distances and formats, proudly representing Canada at the world championship level. As a coach, Claire has guided age group triathletes of all levels-whether completing their first race or qualifying for international competition.

"As a former swimmer, it has been exciting to watch Brock Niagara Aquatics grow such a successful swim program for the region, and I hope that this triathlon program can expand on that success and boost triathlon in Niagara," she said. "I encourage anyone interested in the sport to join us this year."

Participants will benefit from professionally programmed bike and run workouts tailored to build strength, speed and stamina. These sessions will be monitored and adjusted to meet both individual and group progress goals.

With over five years of experience working alongside the world's leading triathlon coaches and athletes, Haines brings a deep understanding of what drives success in both individual athletes and triathlon clubs. Her coaching philosophy emphasizes a thoughtful, long-term approach, grounded in scientific principles and tailored to each athlete's unique goals.

Complementing land-based training, Haines will lead three coached swim sessions per week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 6 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. at the Eleanor Misener Aquatic Centre on Brock's campus.

The program cost is $450 plus HST. Registration details are available here.
