After consecutive straight-set sweeps over the Trent Excalibur this past weekend, the Brock Badgers jumped to No. 6 in the national rankings with a 7-1 record.
The Badgers visited the hosting Excalibur in Peterborough, Ont., on Friday, Nov. 14, claiming a 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-21) victory. Their strong performance was highlighted by Emily Foest, whose 14 kills and 15 total points were both game-highs. Mackenna Knox was the starting setter in the contest, tallying 22 assists, while also adding three points of her own from two kills and one service ace. Daryan Chadwick added six points; five of which came from kills. Brock played a clean game, only recording 11 errors, while Trent committed 25. The Badgers also hit at a .295 hitting percentage, while holding the Excalibur to -.060 per cent.
On Saturday, Nov. 15, Brock was faced with an afternoon rematch, and once again won in impressive fashion, taking a 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 27-25) victory against Trent. This time, Chadwick was the focal point of the offence, tallying a career-high 17 points off of 12 kills, two service aces and three blocks. Offence wasn't the only area where the third-year outside hitter stood out as she also added a game-high six digs. Kara Rakamnuaykit was heavily involved in the outcome as she delivered eight points from seven kills, which was second on the team. The Badgers stood tall, blocking 13 hitting attempts to four from the Excalibur, with this stat proving to be a key component in the decision.
The Badgers will head into their bye week to get some rest. Then they will resume Ontario University Athletics (OUA) action with a road doubleheader against the McMaster Marauders in Hamilton. The first game will take place on Friday, Nov. 28 at 6 p.m., and the second is slated for Saturday, Nov. 29 at 4 p.m.
