Zack Stringer (Lethbridge, Alta.) of the men's hockey team and Tatum O'Connor (Dundas, Ont.) of the women's swimming team have been named the Brock University Athletes of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Nov. 23.
During a road trip weekend, the Badgers claimed a 6-2 victory against the Waterloo Warriors on Friday, Nov. 21 and a 3-2 overtime win over the York Lions on Saturday, Nov. 22. In the first game, Stringer came out on fire, scoring just 16 seconds into the contest to give Brock a 1-0 lead. Just over 11 minutes later, the second-year forward potted his second goal of the period to double up the advantage. He would later add an assist to cap off his three-point-night in a 6-2 victory. On Saturday, the Badgers carried over momentum against the Lions, with Stringer scoring the go-ahead-goal on the power play to put Brock up 2-1. The Labour Studies major was the eventual overtime hero, burying the game-winning goal just 21 seconds into the extra frame to cap off a five-point-weekend with four goals and one assist.
