Debuting at home against a strong Western Mustangs team, the Badgers split the doubleheader to improve to 3-1 on the season.
On Friday, Oct. 31, the Badgers picked up their third consecutive victory to open their regular season campaign by a score of 3-2 (25-27, 25-23, 21-25, 25-22, 15-10). After going down 2-1, the Badgers never gave up, taking the final two sets to win the match. Their comeback was due in large part to the 17 points from both Emily Foest and Madison Tuck. Mackenna Knox contributed a game-high 45 assists, while Daryan Chadwick and Charlotte Ross notched double-digit point totals as well to help seal the victory. Winning the block battle proved key for the Badgers as they led 10-4 in this category.
For the second match of their doubleheader weekend, the Badgers fought hard but fell in straight sets 3-0 (20-25, 17-25, 19-25) to the Mustangs. Brock was unable to carry momentum from Friday's comeback into Saturday as they only reached the 20-point mark in one frame. This time around, Chadwick led the way for the Badgers with six points; all coming from kills. Foest and Tuck both chipped in with five points, while Knox added 19 assists. Brock was unable to capitalize from the service line, allowing 11 service aces from Western and only notching three of their own.
Up next, the Badgers will play host to the undefeated Waterloo Warriors on Friday, Nov. 7 at Bob Davis Gymnasium at 6 p.m, which is followed by a rematch on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 6 p.m.
