Brock ended the season with a competitive loss to Ottawa.Â
The Brock Badgers men's hockey team battled closely with the No. 8 nationally ranked Gee-Gees at Canada Games Park on Friday, Feb. 14 on Senior Night, dropping a 3-2 result in overtime.Â
Ethan Sims and Ryan Thompson were the Badgers' goal scorers in the contest. Â
Looking to set the tempo, the Badgers opened the scoring through Sims, but late in the opening frame the Gee-Gees responded with a goal of their own to conclude the first 20 minutes.Â
In the second period, Brock regained the lead through Thompson whose shot from the blue line made its way through traffic and into the back of the net. Â
Just 11 seconds later, Ottawa responded with a goal of their own to see the score read 2-2 after 40 minutes played. Â
Searching for a game winner, Brock led the third period in shots, outshooting Ottawa 12-10, but ultimately, the game needed overtime to settle the score.Â
The Badgers controlled the pace in overtime but a rush for the Gee-Gees ended the contest with the visitors taking the victory. Â
Samuel Vyletelka stopped 31 of 34 shots in the contest.Â
