No. 8 Badgers tame Lions on Friday night

Brock earned their sixth straight win after a strong showing.

The No. 8 nationally ranked Brock Badgers women's volleyball team triumphed over the York Lions by a score of 3-1 (25-20, 25-16, 11-25, 25-21) on Friday, Feb. 7 at Bob Davis Gymnasium.

Sadie Dick led the way for the Badgers, recording a team-high 14 points from 12 kills and two blocks, while Mackenna Knox contributed a team-high 24 assists in the contest.

After a strong start for the Lions in the first set, the Badgers were able to chip away at the deficit through Dick, who recorded four kills in the frame. After the hosts gained the lead late, back-to-back service errors from the visitors allowed Brock to take the set by a score of 25-20.

In the second frame, the hosts got off to an early 10-2 lead on the back of three service aces from Charlotte Ross. They didn't look back as an attack error on set point gave Brock the 25-16 set win.

The Lions stormed out to a 9-0 lead to start the third set and continued to play consistent volleyball with minimal errors to see it out and take the set by a score of 25-11.

The fourth set featured back-and-forth action for the first time in the game as both teams traded points until late in the set. Back-to-back service aces from Brianne Whalen gave the Badgers the edge, and a service error on match point gave Brock the 25-21 fourth-set victory and the 3-1 win.

While the Badgers were victorious in the contest, the Lions recorded a better hitting percentage at a rate of .263 to the hosts .193.

Up next, the Brock Badgers will have a quick turnaround as they meet with the York Lions again tomorrow on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. You can catch the action by getting your tickets here or by tuning in on OUA.tv
