No. 10 Lions top Badgers in Saturday night contest

Brock fell in a high-energy matchup.

The Brock Badgers men's volleyball team fell in a competitive contest 3-1 (26-24, 21-25, 22-25, 20-25) against the No. 10 ranked York Lions on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.

Fourth-year outside hitter Kylar Code had a game-high 25 points off of 21 kills three service aces and one block.

The first set saw the Brock and York in a back-and-forth affair with the Badgers taking a crucial first set 26-24 thanks to a powerful service ace followed by a kill from Code.

The even play continued into the second set as the score was 16-14 in favour of the Lions halfway through the set. A late effort from the Badgers fell short as the Lions pulled away to win set two 25-21 and tie the match.

York stepped up to take the lead as Brock dropped the third set by a score of 25-22.

In the fourth set, the Lions carried their momentum from the previous frame and won 25-18 as the Badgers who were unable to force a fifth set.

Second-year setter Adam Shapcott delivered a game-high 41 assists for the Badgers.

The visiting York Lions led the hitting percentage department with a .336 while the Brock Badgers hit .183.

Up next, the Brock Badgers will continue playing at home as they will take on the Nipissing Lakers at 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14 at the Bob Davis Gymnasium. The last time these two teams met, Brock defeated Nipissing 3-2 in North Bay on Jan. 13, 2024. Tickets can be purchased here, and the action can be streamed live on OUA.TV.
