Brock clinched their sixth win of the season in commanding fashion.
The Brock Badgers women's hockey team claimed victory over the Western Mustangs with a 3-0 victory at Thompson Arena in London on Saturday, Feb. 8.
First-year goaltender Megan Thiessen made 20 saves for Brock, recording her first career Ontario University Athletics (OUA) shutout and win.
Madison Cronkwright, a fourth-year forward, found the back of the net once for her eighth goal of the season while third-year forward Jenna Duarte scored two goals to put her at seven for the season.
A chaotic first period finished with 12 total penalty minutes and Duarte scoring twice on Mustang's goaltender Presley Daschuk to put the Badgers up by two.
With under three minutes remaining in the second, Cronkwright added to the Badgers'Â lead with a shot that deflected off a Western player, giving Brock a 3-0 lead.
To close out the game, the Badgers held strong defensively on the penalty kill stopping all of Western's eight shots in the final frame to take the game 3-0.
Fourth-year defence Ella Krushelnicki registered an assist on Duarte's opening goal of the game.
Brock recorded 27 shots in the game with Western managing 20.
Up next, the Badgers play their final home game of the season against the York Lions at 12 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14. You can catch the game on OUA.tv.
