It was a thrilling end to the summer for Brock women's volleyball players Daryan Chadwick and Eve Entwistle.
The pair went undefeated to win the 2025 Volleyball Canada University & College Beach Nationals, a two-day event from Saturday Aug. 30 to Sunday, Aug. 31, at Ashbridge's Bay in Toronto, Ont.
"We are super proud of what we were able to accomplish this weekend," Chadwick and Entwistle said. "It's an honour to bring home Brock's first university beach national title."
Chadwick and Entwistle met a tough challenge in the final against Giulia Chimilovski and Natalia Souza of the Toronto Varsity Blues.
After winning the first set 21-19, the Brock women's volleyball players dropped the second frame 21-18.
Chadwick and Entwistle showed resilience, winning a tough third set 15-11 to take the match.
"I am extremely proud of Eve and Daryan," said Brock women's volleyball head coach Steve Delaney. "They got better as the tournament went on and really brought their A game to the final. It wasn't easy but they were able to stay calm and beat a good team from Toronto."
To reach the championship match, the duo went 3-0 in pool play, earning a bye to the quarterfinals.
In the quarterfinals and semifinals, they defeated two different pairs of Waterloo Warriors in Rachael Meilikhan and Molly White (25-21, 25-16) and Sydney Degraauw and Maddison Seo (23-21, 21-11).
Chadwick and Entwistle will now turn their attention back indoors as the Badgers prepare for the upcoming Ontario University Athletics (OUA) season. Brock is coming off its fifth consecutive appearance in the Quigley Cup final.
